Where will children go to school as the development is occupied?
The development could accommodate around 4,500 people but includes one two-form-entry primary school and nursery, with no secondary school proposed on the site.
When would the primary school arrive?
The applicant’s phasing indicates the primary school may not be delivered until 2044 or later. By that point the brief says around 1,430–1,760 homes could already be occupied, potentially representing around 800 school-aged children.
Pressure before the school opens
Children living at New Woodlands before the new school opens would need places at existing schools in Bradley Stoke, Almondsbury and nearby areas. The brief says Council school-place planning has identified capacity pressure and that secondary schools including Bradley Stoke Community School and Abbeywood Community School have reached admission limits for several years.
No secondary school on site
